Sts is an actual real sampler and sounds fantastic.Īnabella wrote:Bye bye sts, I have 64 bit win, and vst samplers are good enough. No need to cry. Kontakt to me is like using a proteus 2000. Well that's how I'm using the two from now on. Yeah it really seems that kontakt is great for its own pre made sample banks/library of sounds.īut for actual sampling and making your own sample banks etc sts wins hands down.
In future you´ll also use BCModular polyphonic sample OSC and w/ SF2, so it´s worth converting old libraries when there´s enough time available. STS-3000 / 4000 is enough,- you only need STS-5000 for realtime time-stretching IIRC. You might convert EMU EII/ Emax/EmaxII/ EIII & EoS format into WAV or SF2 Soundfont banks which is native EMU too,- then play in STS samplers.Į.M.X.P does all the conversions incl. Kontakt sounds good w/ it´s own library stuff, but everything AKAI and EMU I loaded and converted for Kontakt sounds mediocre in Kontakt and compared to the hardware. I have AKAI S1000, 2 S1100, EMU E64, 2 Oberheim DPX-1,- and NI Kontakt 4.x in NI Komplete-7. Liquid EDGE wrote:"Wow, these samplers and its filters etc sound amazing" I use the sts,the only virtual hardware sampler working at 96 khz with adat s/mux in the world! So for using it you need a master clocks generate different master clock (48 khz.96 khz). Sts is not perfect (the filtrers and resonnance not work like other sampler).A3000 is the better for this.īut the only 96 khz hardware sampler is the akai z8 z4 but it doesn't support adat smux for 96 khz. Just have to convert the sondfont in sts to make work the sts well. Old soundfont sound sometimes "crippy" but the new soundfont sound like real synth.
#CDXTRACT SFZ FREE#
If it as is own format for samples it will be more difficult to find free sample.įor sts sample there's 35 gb of free soundfont on internet. I think it will not be easy in the future to find sound for emu esi.
Use midi cc controler probably not easy and have to use (midi cc number). You cannot have multi adat out for mixing the sample in a digital mixer. Honestly, I am not too surprised about the Sonic Core samplers sounding better (I don't remember if I had ever tried them). Oh yeah, The M3 can apparently sample too. If I need one, I'll dust off my fully loaded Emu ESI-32 Turbo. Maybe you can find one with sounds similar to the sound fonts you like.I don't even use samplers. That being the case, perhaps a module that you trigger with the KX88 would make sense as a short term solution?. You may not wish to postpone your live performances. Whatever sampler you decide on, it could take some time and effort to make the converted soundfonts usable/playable. Different samplers have different ways of handling program data, which would include parameters having to do with filters, effects (e.g., reverbs) pitch bend, envelopes, LFOs, etc. It's the programming that makes samples usable and playable. You would be porting in raw sampled sounds that would need to be keymapped and programmed on the sampler. However, in the short term there will be a learning curve and time commitment. A sampler would definitely give you the most flexibility in the long term.

Bernard Chavonnet's CDxtract sample-conversion utility for Windows 95/98 and NT might be another option.
